Colin Edgington

Artist statement

Colin Edgington is a visual artist and writer from New Mexico, currently living and working in Phillipsburg, NJ. His practice often resides in between the land and the studio where he construct sites and objects, invents views and builds narratives. His work is concerned with photographic truth, history and place, specifically in terms of representation and epistemology.

He has exhibited internationally including White Box in New York City, XL Projects at Syracuse University, the Ohio University Art Gallery, the Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster, NJ, PROOF Modern Art in Santa Fe, NM, Fall outs Urban Art Center in Minneapolis, MN and Nouvel Organon in Paris, France. He was recently named the winner of the Iowa Review Photography Prize.

 He has also worked with writers/critics David Levi-Strauss and John Yau and has written for Exposure: The Journal of the Society for Photographic Education, Afterimage: The Journal of Media Arts and Cultural Criticism and Fraction Magazine.

He teaches photography at RVCC where he also runs the photography, printmaking and Mac labs.
